SRINAGAR — A man, who went missing along with an AK-47 rifle of a Special Police Officer (SPO) in Trown area of Doda district on Tuesday evening, has been held.
A top police officer told the news agency Kashmir Scroll that a man identified as Muhammad Rafi, a resident of Trown near Pranoo, has been held in his native district.
“He was coming from Bhella towards his village and was accompanied by a Special Police Officer who was carrying the weapon. On reaching Pul Doda, the SPO Safdar Hussain deboarded the vehicle to buy some essentials and in the meantime, Rafi fled in his car along with the rifle,” the officer said.
He added that the vehicle was recovered near Jagota area of Bhalla but neither Rafi nor the weapon was present in the vehicle.
“Soon after the incident, searches were started and he was apprehended,” the officer said.
