POONCH — A woman died after her husband’s rifle ‘went off’ on Thursday in Upper Marrah village of Poonch’s Surankote while police have detained her husband for questioning, officials said.
An unnamed police official, quoted by the news agency KNO, said that an incident of gunfire took place in the house of Nisar Hussain of Upper Marrah village.
Police said that after receiving the gunfire, the victim got injured and later succumbed to her injury. The deceased has been identified as Rubina Koser, wife of Nisar Hussain, a resident of Upper Marrah village.
Police further said that the husband of the deceased has been detained for questioning and in the preliminary investigation, it has come to the fore that the incident happened due to accidental fire from her husband’s weapon, who is a VDC member, adding that the rifle has also been seized.
