SRINAGAR — Police on Saturday arrested 10 persons for allegedly indulging in “stone pelting” on a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF during a gunfight in which three local Al-Badr militants were killed at Kakapora area in south Kashmir on April 2.

“Police Station Pampore have arrested 10 miscreants for indulging in stone pelting on security forces deployed near Kakapora encounter site. Imperative to mention that the Kakapora encounter began on April 2 and concluded with the killing of three local (militants),” a police spokesman said in a statement issued here.

“However, some miscreants from nearby village Samboora had attempted to disrupt security forces by pelting stones on them and by raising anti-national slogans. The miscreants were video graphed on spot and later on identified by police,” the spokesman said, adding, “Acting swiftly, Police Station Pampore arrested 10 identified miscreants and booked them under relevant sections of law.”

Efforts for arrest of other involved youth are on and all involved persons will be booked accordingly, the spokesman said.

“It is made clear that these incidents will not be tolerated and parents should refrain their children from indulging in such activities,” the police spokesman added.
