SRINAGAR — Twelve civilians were injured on Wednesday evening in an explosion after suspected militants attacked a forces party in Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Sources said that suspected militants lobbed a grenade at a joint team of Police and CRPF deployed in Kakapora area of Pulwama. However, the grenade missed the target and exploded on the roadside in which 12 civilians suffered splinter injuries.
All the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.
The injured persons were identified as Raja Begum and Suhail Ahmad, both residents of Nanman Kakapora, Shabir Ahmad Dar, Mushtaq Ahmad, Bashir Ahmad Dar, Habibullah Sheikh, Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, Abrar Dar, Bashir Ahmad, all residents of main town Kakapora, Ghulam Mohiuddin from Larbal Kakapora, Adil Ahmad of Samboora and Amir, a non-local from Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the government forces cordoned off the whole area and a manhunt has been launched to nab the attackers.
