SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested an active militant of Al-Badr outfit in Nagbal, Charar-i-Sharif area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Police in a statement said that based on specific information about the presence of militants, Budgam Police along with 53RR and 181Bn CRPF launched a joint search operation in Nagbal village of Charar-i-Sharif.
During search, a recently joined militant linked with proscribed militant outfit Al-Badr was arrested, police said. He has been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, resident of Bathpora Arwani area of Anantnag.
As per police, preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested militant was in close contact with the handlers of the proscribed Al-Badr across the border in Pakistan and also active militants of Al-Badr outfit in south Kashmir.
Arms & ammunition including one Chinese Pistol, one Pistol Magazine, 14 Pistol rounds, two AK Magazines, 58 AK rounds and incriminating materials of proscribed terror outfit Al-Badr were recovered from his possession.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 24/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Charar-i-Sharif and further investigation is in progress.
