PULWAMA — Amid coronavirus scare, government forces launched a nocturnal cordon and search operation in Samboora Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Eyewitnesses said that soldiers from 50 Rashtriya Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force personnel laid a siege around Samboora at 6 PM on Monday evening that culminated on 12:30 AM of the night.

Witnesses added that besides conducting door-to-door searches, people were asked to come out and thoroughly questioned. “On the one hand we are scared of Coronavirus while on the other these search operations give us sleepless nights,” said a local.

Another search operation was launched during wee hours at Malik Mohalla Marval village of Kakapora. Door-to-door searches were conducted and the identity cards of the people were checked. However, no contact with militants was established during the search operation.

Valley is in a lock-down mode in wake of Coronavirus scare. Over 50 people have been tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Kashmir. These include two kids and a baby as well.
