ANANTNAG — Amid COVID-19 scare, a large number of locals in Sirhama area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district are busy in the construction of a mosque and for this purpose, the services of dozens of non-local labourers have been taken.

Well placed sources said that people in Mohalla Tulwada Sirhama area started the construction work of a local Masjid Shareef where announcements are being made asking local residents to assemble near the under construction mosque and help in the work.

Some locals are infuriated and hope the administration will halt the work. But till Thursday afternoon, the construction work was going on. “We request police and administration to stop the construction work and stop people from assembling at one place,” said a local.

Another local said they are not against the construction work, but the time is not opportune and people should follow the government directives which are for the welfare of the people.
