Army and J&K Police recover arms cache in Kupwara

SRINAGAR — Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a coordinated joint search operation was launched on Thursday by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Amrohi area of Tangdhar in northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

The Indian Army in a post on social media said that the operation led to the recovery of two pistols, ammunition and other war-like stores.

“The operation, conducted in response to credible information about the presence of illegal arms, saw security forces meticulously combing the area. The recovered items include the pistols and a significant quantity of ammunition,” stated the spokesman.

The recovered arms have been secured, and further investigations are underway to trace their origins and intended use.

Earlier in the day, reliable sources quoted by a local news agency said that an infiltration attempt was foiled in Tangdhar sector when troops guarding the LoC picked up the movement of militants and challenged them in the early hours of Thursday. They said that two militants were likely gunned down while the operation was underway.
