BUDGAM — An Army man allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself to death in Nagam area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday.

Official sources told the news agency KDC that an Army trooper identified as Bhupinder Singh son of Surjeet Singh, a resident of Makshoorpur, Punjab posted at 53 RR Nagam camp committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle.

The trooper was immediately shifted to 92 Base Hospital Srinagar where he was declared dead. “The reason behind his action could not be ascertained immediately,” a police officer told KDC and said proceedings have been launched in this regard.
