
SRINAGAR — An Army soldier and a cop has been injured in an ongoing encounter between militants and government forces in Gusoo area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
A senior Police officer said that in the ongoing gunfight, one Army soldier and a cop received bullet wound. Both of them have been evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment, the officer added.
Pertinently, 122 militants have been killed so far in the Valley this year.
Earlier, a joint team of Police and Army’s 53 RR launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Gusoo.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
A senior police officer confirmed the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants. As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
