SRINAGAR — One Army trooper was injured in an ongoing encounter in Kanigam village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A senior Police officer said that one Army man was injured when militants tried to break cordon by firing a volley of bullets on the forces.
However, militants couldn’t manage to escape as security forces again engaged them, the officer added.
Earlier, reports reaching here said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Kanigam.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
