Awantipora Accident: One more migrant labourer succumbs, toll 6

SRINAGAR — The death toll in the Awantipora road accident in Pulwama district has reached six as one more migrant worker from Jharkhand succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Hospital Srinagar on Wednesday morning.

Five migrant workers from Bihar had died while over two dozen sustained injuries in an accident in Goripora, Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district last week.

The deceased were identified as Saleem son of Allawudin; Raj Kumar son of Shiv Das; Kaisar Alam son of Mazharul Haq; Naseer-ud-Din son of Aslam Ansari and Muhammad Gulzar son of Muhammad Nafs, all residents of Bihar.

Hospital sources at SMHS Hospital told the news agency KNT that one more injured identified as Ali Hasan Ansari, a native of Jharkhand state of India, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning, taking the death toll to six. They said the condition of a couple of injured is still critical.
