Clashes erupt during CASO in Kulgam

SRINAGAR — Massive clashes erupted between government forces and youth during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Badroo area of Yaripora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Reports reaching here said that hundreds of youth hit the streets when the CASO was launched by the government forces in the area.

They said that youth threw stones on troops amid intense pro-freedom sloganeering. The forces responded with teargas shelling.

After receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area, the joint forces cordoned off the area and started searches, sources said.

Meanwhile, a door-to-door search operation has been launched in the area after all the entry and exit points were sealed.
