SRINAGAR — Regarding the shifting and providing medical aid to incarcerated Bar Association President, Mian Qayoom, the court has sought a reply from the government till March 12.
Bar Association President, Mian Qayoom is languishing in a jail in Uttar Pradesh. He, along with other civil society members, was arrested after the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in August last year.
Sources said that a writ petition has been filed by senior Advocate Zaffar Ahmed Shah seeking the shifting of Mian Qayoom from Agra to Srinagar jail and providing medical aid to him.
In the writ petition, which Advocate Zafar Shah filed in the court of law on Saturday, the petitioner has also requested the court to pass the directions of shifting Mian Qayoom to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, as he is not keeping well and has developed multiple ailments.
The court has sought a reply from the government on these matters and directed it to file its response by or before March 12 this month.
Pertinently, over 200 people from Kashmir are still languishing in different jails in Uttar Pradesh.
