SRINAGAR — The court has taken cognizance of the ‘Prosecution Complaint’ filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Srinagar against a Gujarat man and has directed the accused to appear before it on November 27.
ED had filed the Prosecution Complaint against Kiran Patel on October 28 last month under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and today, the court took cognizance of the same complaint and listed the case for hearing on November 27, directing the accused to be present.
Kiran Patel, an alleged conman from Gujarat, was in the news last year due to his alleged involvement in a high-profile money laundering case. He was arrested in Srinagar for impersonating a top official from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to deceive people.
A court had granted him bail in August last year. “The Hon’ble Court has taken cognizance of the PC, paving the way for further legal proceedings,” an official was quoted as having said by the news agency KNT.
