PULWAMA — Authorities on Thursday seized four vehicles in south Kashmir’s Tral area after being found involved in illegal mining.
An official said that during the exercise, In-charge Tral Asif Ahmad and his team seized four vehicles carrying construction materials in various parts of the Nallah at Sub-District Tral.
Following the seizing of vehicles, the departmental team told the erring drivers to purchase minerals from legal sources only and stay away from illegal mining practices.
It is pertinent to mention that the Geology and Mining Department, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom, intensified its efforts to crack the whip on illegal mining of minerals and continues to lay Nakas in several areas of Tral.
The locals were also briefed to alert the administration of all illegal mining activities so that strict action could be initiated against those involved in the activity.
