PULWAMA — The vital Awantipora-Pulwama road in south Kashmir is in dilapidated condition, causing inconvenience to people. People said that the road was macadamized years before and is now lying in a dilapidated condition.

Showkat Ahmad, a resident of Padgampora area, said the road connects Tral and Awantipora sub-districts with district headquarter Pulwama. Posted from Tral to Pulwama, Showkat said that the condition of the road is very bad and is giving a very tough time for commuters.

“Usually, it takes around 30 minutes from Awantipora to reach district headquarters but due to the bad condition of the road, it takes more than one hour,” he said.

Locals told the news agency KNO that school-going children and elderly patients are the worst sufferers and concerned authorities must take cognizance at the earliest.

“We have time and again requested higher authorities to repair and macadamise the road so that no one will suffer but nothing has been done on the ground as of now,” he added.
