PULWAMA — District Administration Pulwama today conducted a massive demolition drive to clear the encroachments and illegal constructions in Pulwama town.
The drive was headed by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer.
During the drive, various illegally raised structures in the main market were razed to ground that included a commercial complex near district hospital, shops at Drusso besides a poultry farm at Wagam.
On the occasion, the DDC said that the district Administration has initiated action against the offenders who have raised illegal structures in the town, particularly along roadsides and on footpaths.
He asked people not to indulge in illegal construction activities and encroachments, adding that all encroachments which have been raised illegally will be demolished and violators would be dealt strictly under law.
The DDC further added that the demolition drive in the town will pave way for de-congestion while having judicious use of the land for public purpose.
Meanwhile, the DDC directed Executive Officer Municipal Committee Pulwama to issue recovery notices against the illegal encroachers of State and Kahcharai land, illegal construction of shops so that the expenditure incurred upon the lifting of debris and dismantling of illegal structures shall be borne by the violators.
He also directed Executive Officer Municipal Committee to issue notices to the illegal encroachers under the provisions of J&K Municipal Act 2000 for the recovery of the same.
The DDC warned people particularly individuals, institutions and organisations to refrain from encroaching State and Kahcharai land as stern action would be initiated under law.
The DDC on the occasion was accompanied by Tehsildar Pulwama, EO Municipal Committee and other officers and officials of concerned departments.
