Director Horticulture inspects ongoing projects in Pulwama

SRINAGAR — The Director Horticulture, Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (KAS) today visited District Pulwama and inspected various ongoing works undertaken by the Department under various Centrally sponsored as well as State sponsored schemes.

Director Horticulture also visited Fruit Plant nursery R.P. Nowgam being developed under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) for meeting the requirement of elite plant material, which is pre-requisite for the overall development of fruit industry in the Kashmir valley. He also passed instructions to ensure the execution of quality work.

He also visited Fruit Plant nursery Newa Pulwama & Galendar Pampore and exhorted the nursery staff to work with zeal.

Later, Director Horticulture along with members of joint inspection team viz. Joint Director Horticulture Kashmir, SE Mechanical, Executive Engineer (P&M) and expert from SKUAST-Kashmir inspected the Controlled Atmospheric Store “Peaks Agroware Housing Pvt. Ltd. at IGC Lassipora, Pulwama” for which the incentive has recently been sanctioned under Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP).

Presently, State is having around 1 lac MT capacity of CA store under private sector in Kashmir valley whereas the required estimated capacity is around 3 lac for storing of A-Grade Apple.

With the establishment of 3 lac capacity, the growers of Kashmir shall be able to get better returns for their produce. Director Horticulture enjoined upon on the private entrepreneurs to establish more CA storage units in the best interest of orchard community.

Director Horticulture also inspected Global Agri & Food Enterprises located at IGC Lassipora Pulwama established to work for Agribusiness Development in valley. It produces high quality bio and organic manure/fertilizer.

The joint inspection team also inspected walnut processing units in IGC Lassipora approved by the State Level Executive Committee of Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture for providing the available assistance under the scheme. (KNS)
