Driver held as Pulwama Police solves hit-and-run case

PULWAMA — In a swift response to a tragic hit-and-run incident, Pulwama Police have successfully apprehended the driver responsible for the accident and seized the involved vehicle.

The incident occurred on May 14, 2024, at approximately 3:40 pm when an Auto Load Carrier struck a 10-year-old girl at Urwan and fled the scene. The critically injured girl was rushed to District Hospital Pulwama, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries.

Following the incident, Police Post Newa registered the case under FIR number 90/2023 under sections 279, 337 IPC at Police Station Pulwama. With the girl’s passing, Section 304-A IPC was also invoked.

Police analyzed available CCTV footage from the area and through diligent investigation, the driver was identified as Imran Ali Mir, son of Ali Mohammad Mir, a resident of Sanzipora, B.K. Pora, Budgam.

Mir was interrogated and confessed to his involvement in the crime. The vehicle, a Mahindra Auto Load Carrier with registration number JK01AD 9301, was recovered.

The accused has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and witness statements.
