Encounter breaks out in Budgam

BUDGAM — An encounter broke out between militants and security forces at Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district, police said.

According to reports, a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched in Zenipora village of Chadoora in the evening.

They said that during the search operation, the hiding militants fired upon the search party, which was retaliated, thus leading to a gunfight.

Officials further stated that the gunfight was going on and Army’s 53 RR and police were on the job.

An intermittent exchange of firing was going on till this report was filed.
