Srinagar: In reply to the notices issued by the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Deputy Commissioner Pulwama in his reply stated that on June 29, 2018, a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant was killed in an encounter at village, Thamna and during the exchange of fire, Faizan Ahmed Poswaal, son of Dr Abdul Gani, resident of Khrew Ladhoo Pampore, Pulwama sustained bullet injuries.
The reply submitted by DC Pulwama further states that Faizan had received bullet injuries at the encounter site and his presence at the place of occurrence is being ascertained and the investigations are going on.
The reply states that ex-gratia relief case of the slain has been prepared by the Tehsildar Pampore and is under process which shall be put before the next district level screening cum coordination committee for disposal under law.
The DC’s reply comes after the chairman of International Forum for Justice and Human Rights, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo had filed a petition before the SHRC under number SHRC/216/Pul/2018 seeking details of the incident and reasons and circumstances under which Faizaan was killed.
In yet another compliance report submitted by the Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, militants hiding in Thamna village opened fire on the search party resulting in the raging encounter as forces fired in self defense and in the ensuing encounter, a Lashkar militant Sajad Ahmed Shah of Chogal, Handwara was killed while two others managed to escape.
It reads that while as some civilians received injuries, one of them identified as Faizaan later succumbed as he had received bullet injuries at the encounter site.
The petitioner, however, says that according to the parents of Faizan, their son was killed a day before the encounter started between forces and militants.
“Parents have already termed police and official claims as totally baseless and false,” the petitioner says. “I demand a high level probe into the killing of Faizan.” (KNS)
