First time in J&K Judiciary's history, E-Lok Adalat held in Pulwama

PULWAMA — For the first time in the history of J&K Judiciary, E-Lok Adalat was organized on Saturday in District Pulwama by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Pulwama under the Chairmanship of Mr. Mohammad Ibrahim Wani, Chairman DLSA (Pr. Distt & Sessions Judge) Pulwama. The information was provided by District Legal Services Authority Pulwama, in a statement here.

The statement added that a total of four benches were constituted in the district, two benches at district headquarter and one each at Court Complex Pampore and Tral.

“The bench 1 comprised of Ms Shaziya Tabassum (Addl. Distt & Sessions Judge) Pulwama and Mr. Khursheed-Ul-Islam (Secretary DLSA Pulwama) and bench 2 comprising of Mr. Raja Mohammad Tasleem (Chief Judicial Magistrate Pulwama) and Mr. Altaf Hussain Khan (Munsiff/JMIC) Pulwama,” the statement said.

A total of 126 cases were taken up in the E-Lok Adalat out of which 107 cases were amicably settled through virtual mode as per DLSA Pulwama.

The DLSA also claimed that compensation of rupees 6.80 lacs was awarded in four MACT cases and 14.90 lacs were recovered in two cases under N.I. Act, rupees 8.07 lacs were recovered as arrears of maintenance and rupees 60,000 were recovered from Agricultural Department as Counsel Fee in pre-Lok Adalat session fine of rupees 41,700 was also realized for traffic violations.

Total amount recovered/awarded/settled, as per the statement, is rupees 40,93,400.
