KULGAM — Five militants were killed in a joint operation by the army, police, and CRPF in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday.
A top police officer said that after a night-long anti-militancy operation at Samno village in Kulgam, five militants have been killed.
He said the identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained. The officer, however, said that the operation in the area is still going on.
On Thursday evening, on receiving specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the Samno village, an exchange of firing was reported. However, the operation remained suspended for the night and this morning, the firing resumed from both sides.
Sources said that the whole area has been sealed by the joint team of forces, and all the entry and exit points are closed.
