Srinagar: Army on Saturday said that five militants died in the ongoing encounter in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
“Two brave personnel of the Indian Army were killed in an encounter in Kupwara district of Jammu & Kashmir today,” a Srinagar-based Defence spokesperson said.
The two Army personnel were identified as Naik Shinde Shankar Chandrabhan and Gunner Sahadev Maruti More. “As per latest inputs, five militants have been killed and operations are still in progress,” the spokesperson said.
The Army spokesperson said that they also have recovered five bodies of militants.
When contacted, the J&K Police spokesperson for their version of Kupwara ‘encounter’, said, “We don’t have any information yet. Talk to the Army for the details.”
