Forest employee held with Brown sugar in Baramulla: Police


BARAMULLA — Renowned drug peddler arrested at Akbar Chowk by Baramulla police following an action against those involved in drug peddling in North Kashmir.

One person identified Nasir Ahmad Shiekh as son of Gh Qadir Shiekh resident of Amagrah Sopore worked as was working in forest gaurd was arrested at Akbar Chowk Baramulla Crossing for the drug supply offences. He has been taken to Police Station Baramulla where he reamins in custody.

Officers at the Crossing have seized 60 grms of brown sugar like substance in a polythene bag was recovered from his possession.

In this regard Case FIR. No. 60/2019 U/S 8/21 NDPS has been registered in PS Baramula and investigation taken up.

An official in forest department told KNO that Nisar Ahmad Sheikh is working as watcher in the department.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” said officials.
