
SRINAGAR — Former Ikhwani (government gunman) Papa Kishtwari (Ghulam Muhammad Lone), who was accused of murdering many civilians, died of cardiac arrest on Thursday at police hospital here.
Reports also said he was unwell from last couple of days and was taken to hospital for checkup where he died.
He was currently in Central Jail Srinagar in a case where he and his associates were accused of having brutally murdered a contractor Ali Mohammad Mir from Brain Nishat, in broad daylight.
Kishtwari used to operate in south Kashmir, where villagers accused him of extra-judicial killings during his reign as an Ikhwani commander and an important deputy of slain Ikhwan founder Kuka Parray.
