Geelani’s detention to continue

Srinagar: The state government Tuesday filed the objections to the submissions of Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s counsel, who had sought veteran leader’s release. Besides, state government filed the medical report of the ailing leader before the High Court. The case has now been listed for July 29 for final hearings. Pertinently, on July 3 Geelani’s family through their counsel Mian Qayoom had filed a petition challenging his detention under Public Safety Act (PSA). Pleading Geelani’s case, Qayoom had prayed before the court that the detention order was politically motivated and passed on the orders of the police.
