Gunfight breaks out in Baramulla’s Kreeri village

BARAMULLA — A gunfight has raged out in Kalantara Kandi village of Kreeri Baramulla this evening.

Official sources said that contingents of Army’s 29 RR, SOG, CRPF and Police cordoned off Kandi village in Kreeri.

As the forces intensified the searches, hiding militants in the area opened fire, leading to a gunfight which was going on when the report was filed.

“The Army has already rushed more reinforcement in the area,” they said.

A police officer confirmed the encounter and said that the cordon was launched following specific inputs about the presence of militants in the village.
