Gunfight rages in south Kashmir’s Kulgam

SRINAGAR — An encounter broke out between militants and government forces in Rampora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.

As per reports from news agency GNS, a joint team of J&K Police and the Indian Army launched a cordon and search operation in Rampora area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.

A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of firing between the militants and security forces.
