Hideout busted in Naib Tehsildar’s property in Pulwama

'The official's brother was a militant killed in 1996'

PULWAMA — Police registered a formal case after combined government forces claimed to have busted a hideout in a shop owned by a top government official in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Official sources said that soldiers from 44 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group personnel from Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs, searched the house of a Naib Tehsildar in Pulwama.

The search party claimed to have busted an underground militant hideout under one of the shops belonging to the official.

The official has been identified as Naib Tehsildar Nazir Ahmed Wani, son of Abdul Ahad Wani, a resident of Bellow Pulwama.

A police official while confirming the incident said that a formal FIR vide number 39/2020 under Section 18, 19, 39 has been registered at Police Station Rajpora. He, however, said that investigation is going on and no arrests have been made so far.

When asked what has been recovered from the hideout, he said the hideout has been busted that was used by militants.

Divulging information about the Naib Tehsildar in question, police sources said that he is paternal uncle of slain militant Liyaqat Ahmad Wani of Bellow Rajpora and also, one of his brothers namely Muneer Ahmad Wani was a militant, who was killed in a gunfight in the year 1996.
