SRINAGAR — The Gondola cable car project in the popular ski resort of Gulmarg has brought in a record Rs 34 crores revenue for the Jammu and Kashmir government.

The Gulmarg Gondola, which is the world’s highest and Asia’s longest cable car, has generated Rs 34 crores in the last eight months.

Since its inception, the Gondola has been a popular tourist attraction for both local and international visitors, generating significant money. The Gondola, Asia’s highest ropeway, is a source of pride for visitors to the world-famous resort.

Gondola Gulmarg had experienced numerous malfunctions

The Gondola Gulmarg experienced numerous malfunctions last year, prompting many international guests, including ski pros, to abandon the area. The breakdown had resulted in major issues, lowering the profits.

Officials, on the other hand, claim that circumstances have greatly improved in the previous two months. “We are hoping that this year the Gondola would generate income greater than the aim due to the tremendous efforts of Managing Director Mohammad Akbar Wani and employees here in this Gondola project,” said Suhail Ahamad, Manager Gulmarg Gondola Project.

The ski resort has had an unprecedented flood of guests this season

This season, the world-famous ski resort in north Kashmir saw an unprecedented influx of visitors. On Christmas and New Year’s Eve, all of the hotels in the mountain-locked area were packed with local and international visitors.

Thousands of visitors have used this ropeway every day in the previous three months, according to authorities.

“This time, the response was fantastic. There is a lot of bustle on New Year’s Eve. This winter, we anticipate a high volume of visitors. Every day for the past three months, we’ve seen 2,000-3,000 people use the Gondola. The bookings are quite excellent, and we foresee a major rush in the coming winter,” said Fayaz Ahmad, Assistant Manager Gulmarg Gondola Project.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Gondola ride in Gulmarg is one of the most captivating ways to take in the beautiful views of the snow-capped mountains.

The Gondola begins in Gulmarg and takes you to the Apharwat Mountains at a height of 13,000 feet above sea level. It is Asia’s highest and longest ropeway.
