Jamia Masjid Srinagar reopens for Friday prayers after 30 weeks

SRINAGAR — After a gap of over 30 weeks, the authorities today allowed the reopening of historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar for Friday prayers.

An official said that Jamia Masjid was reopened today after a gap of 30 weeks and Friday prayers will be offered today at the central Jamia Masjid Srinagar.

Meanwhile, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar and Anjuman Auqaf’s General Secretary Mohammad Altaf also confirmed to KNS that Jamia Masjid has been reopened and Friday prayers will be held today.

On February 28, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P K Pole, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, SSP Srinagar along with other officials had visited the masjid to take review arrangements for its reopening.

The officials had also held a meeting with the Anjuman Auqaf regarding the reopening of Jamia Masjid.
