SRINAGAR — Jammu Kashmir Police on Tuesday attached a police officer for showing laxity in his official duties. The order was issued after the recent militant attack on three migrant workers from Bihar in Gagren area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, south Kashmir range, Rayees Muhammad Bhat in this regard issued an order which reads that in view of the incident that occurred at Gagren Shopian, Inspector Ghulam Jeelani Bhat is attached to RPHQ Anantnag pending inquiry. “This order shall have immediate effect,” the order added.

Notably, on July 13 evening, three non-local labourers from Bihar – Anmol Kumar, Pintu Kumar Thakur and Heralal were shot at and injured by suspected militants.

Shopian district this year witnessed only one militant-related incident. On April 12, militants managed to escape after an encounter in Chakoora village.
