JRL calls for shutdown on Monday against civilian, militant killings

Srinagar: Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik on Saturday called for a compete shutdown on Monday (September 17) against civilian and militant killings in Qazigund area of south Kashmir.

The strike has been given against the killing of civilian Rouf Ahmad and five militants in government forces action at Anchidora and Qazigund in south Kashmir, Hurriyat(M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said in a tweet.

The strike has also been called for unabated CASOs and injuries to scores of people at Anchidora, Mirwaiz added.

Pertinently, a youth who was critically injured near the gunfight site in Chowgam area of Kulgam succumbed.

Sources said that Rouf Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Salam Ganie, a resident of Check Anchidoora was hit by a bullet in his throat during the clashes that erupted following an encounter in the area.

The youth was referred to District Hospital Anantnag from where he was shifted to Srinagar. He breathed his last on his way to Srinagar.
