KULGAM — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday claimed to have rescued a kidnapped girl and said that efforts are being made to nab the culprit who is still at large.
A police spokesman in a statement issued here said that Police Station Manzgam received a written complaint for assistance from a complainant, stating that his daughter (name withheld) had been kidnapped by one person namely Mudasir Ahmad Ganie, son of Bashir Ahmad Ganie of Payer Pulwama.
Acting promptly, a team headed by SHO Manzgam, Inspector Salinder Singh under the supervision of SDPO DH Pora, Shabir Ahmad was constituted to rescue the kidnapped girl and to nab the kidnapper, the statement said.
“Utilizing all available means, with strenuous efforts, specific information was generated by the investigating team which led to the rescue of the kidnapped girl. After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the rescued girl has been handed over to her legal heirs and efforts are being made to nab the culprit who is still at large,” police said.
Regarding the incident, police said that a case under FIR number 50/2021 under Section 366 IPC stands registered in Police Station Manzgam and investigation is in progress.
Meanwhile, police urged people to extend cooperation to the police to nab the culprit. “Any information regarding whereabouts of the culprit may be shared with SHO Manzgam on phone numbers: 7051510671, 9469950818, 7006694178,” police said.
