Lady beggar from Rajasthan arrested for kidnapping child in Budgam

BUDGAM — Police arrested a non-local beggar for kidnapping a kid in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

The female non-local beggar has been identified as Chidi Devi wife of Khana Ram, resident of Dhannasar Hanumangarh, Rajasthan.

A police spokesperson said that Police Station Khag received information that a lady, who was begging in the village Dalwash in Khag area, kidnapped a 4-year-old child Ahil Ahmad Pandith son of Ghulam Mohuddin Pandith of Dalwash Khag village.

The female beggar concealed the child under her scarf. Some women turned suspicious and informed the Police Station Khag.

A police party rushed to the spot along with lady police personnel, recovered the kidnapped child from her possession, and arrested her on the spot.

Police said a formal FIR vide number 17/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Khag and the investigation has been taken up. The boy has been handed over to his parents after medico-legal formalities.
