
SRINAGAR — People facing scarcity of water Monday thrashed two employees of PHE Department and damaged the water-tanker in south Kashmir’s Shopian village.
Sources said that village Gulab Teng Keller in Shopian is facing acute shortage of drinking water from past two weeks. People hit to roads on daily basis in this regard.
Sources said that locals stopped a water tanker (JK22-2416) when it was on way to Keller for supplying potable water. They dragged Field Inspector Nazir Ahmed and Assistant Lineman Mohammad Rafi out from the water-tanker and thrashed them.
The agitated locals damaged the water-tanker as well and damaged its windscreen.
Meanwhile, police has taken the cognizance of the incident and started investigation.
