KULGAM — A militant was killed while two Army men were injured in an encounter that broke out on Saturday afternoon in Arreh Mohanpora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

An official said that a militant has been killed in an initial exchange of fire while two Army men also got injured.

The official said that the injured troopers were shifted to 92 Base Hospital Srinagar for treatment. He added the operation is going on in the area.

Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 34 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
