KULGAM — A militant was killed in a gunfight with joint forces in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday, police said.
A police official said that joint forces launched a cordon and search operation in Aharbal area following inputs about the presence of militants.
As the forces were conducting searches in the area, militants fired upon them. The forces retaliated, ensuing an encounter in which one militant was killed.
The identity of the slain militant was not ascertained. The operation was underway till the filing of this report.
