SRINAGAR — Militants on Wednesday attacked a police vehicle in Allochibagh bund area of Srinagar on Wednesday evening. There was no casualty reported in this incident, police said.

“In Allochibagh bund area of Srinagar, (militant) fired upon a vehicle bound small police party. This was effectively retaliated by the police party,” the police said in a tweet as per news agency GNS.

“(Militants) took advantage of darkness and ran away towards the built-up area. No injury or other damage took place,” the police said, adding that a cordon and search operation was launched in the area.

Meanwhile, an Army trooper was injured after his colleague’s rifle went off accidentally in Frisal area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

A senior police officer said that due to accidental fire, one Army soldier received injuries in his finger and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
