Militants decamp with weapons from retired SP’s house in Budgam

Srinagar: Militants on Sunday late evening striked at a retired police officer’s residence and decamped with two weapons along with magazines in Gopalpora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Reports reaching here said that the gunmen barged inside the house of retired Superintendent of Police (SP), Ghulam Mohd Gurezi at Noorani Colony in Gopalpora area of Chadoora.

The gunmen overpowered the cops at the guard room guarding the former police officer and fled away along with two carbine rifles and four magazines.

SSP Budgam, Tejinder Singh confirmed the incident and said that police team has been rushed to the spot to verify the details.

“Police has taken cognizance and further investigation has been taken up”, SSP said.

Soon after the incident, goverment forces launched searches to trace out the militants. (GNS)
