SRINAGAR — After a face-off with a team of joint forces personnel, militants escaped from Noorbagh area of Srinagar city today.

There was a brief exchange of fire between militants and the joint forces. The exchange of fire took place after the forces cordoned off Bhagwanpora area and conducted a search operation.

Police in a tweet said, “A small team of police while laying cordon were fired upon by militants. Seems, they escaped after dropping their weapons.”

Reports said that militants left behind a pistol and an assault rifle before escaping from the area.

Pertinently, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar recently said that there are four militants active in Srinagar city.
