SRINAGAR — A heartbreaking incident occurred in the Noorbagh area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district as a minor boy drowned in the Jhelum River on Tuesday afternoon, according to officials.

Reports received from a Srinagar-based news agency indicated that 12-year-old Muneer Ahmad Khanday, son of Mohammad Maqbool Khanday and a resident of Noorbagh, met with the tragic accident in his hometown.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the boy was pulled from the river and rushed to SMHS Hospital Srinagar. Despite efforts by medical personnel, doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Meanwhile, the local police have launched an investigation into the incident.
