Mother-son duo arrested for drug peddling in Budgam

SRINAGAR — Police in Budgam have arrested a mother-son duo for drug peddling in the district.

“Police Post Mochwa received specific information through reliable sources that a person namely Mohammad Yaqoob Khan, son of Sirajudin, and his mother has concealed contraband substance in their residential house at Gopalpora, Chadoora,” police said in a statement issued to the news agency KNO.

On receipt of this information, a police party of Police Post Mochwa led by Inspector Mudasir Shafi along with 1st Class Executive Magistrate B. K Pora raided the specific spot and recovered 31 sticks of Charas weighing 1 kilogram and 122 grams from the house, the statement said, adding that both the mother and son have been arrested on the spot and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 46/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and the investigation has been initiated, police said.
