
SRINAGAR — National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court on Friday remanded People’s Democratic Party leader and Youth President, Waheed-Ur-Rehman Para to 15 days custody for his alleged connections with Hizbul Mujahideen militant group.
Waheed Para was produced before NIA court in Jammu where he was sent on NIA custody 15 days.
Para was formally arrested by NIA on Tuesday after grilling him for two days at the New Delhi headquarters of the agency.
Para’s name had surfaced in the infamous suspended J&K Police DySP Davinder Singh’s case, wherein according to NIA, Para’s involvement had allegedly proved in funding militancy and having connections with militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.
Meanwhile, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti had condemned the arrest of Waheed Para and had termed it as a vendetta against those who are part of Gupkar Alliance, adding that through such acts, opposition leaders are harassed on one or other pretext to hijack upcoming DDC polls in J&K.
