Police arrest absconder after 21 years in Awantipora

SRINAGAR — Police on Wednesday said that they have arrested an absconder in southern Kashmir’s Awantipora area after 21 years.

In a statement issued to the news agency CNS, police said, “Warrant under section 512 CrPC issued by Hon’ble Court of Principal Session Judge Pulwama pending with Police Station Awantipora against accused person namely Reyaz Ahmad Alaie son of Abdul Rehman, resident of Awantipora A/P Mehjoor Nagar Srinagar was executed and the person who was evading his arrest from last 21 years involved in case FIR No. 19/2003 of Police Station Awantipora was arrested by a special Police team under the supervision of Mumtaz Ali Bhatti (SP) SDPO Awantipora.”

Subsequently, the arrested accused person was produced before the Hon’ble Court of Law.

“Our consistent actions against anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police have resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities,” police said.
