SOPORE — Police have refuted the claims of a Sopore girl that her brother-in-law was ‘intentionally’ hit by government forces while driving her Scooty on Saturday evening.
Nighat Bashir – a gold medalist in Karate – who hails from Seelu Sopore is in news from the past couple of days. She is accusing Army of harassment, claiming that she is being targeted for raising her voice against a drug peddler Man Palla. She claims that her brother has become a victim of Man Palla and due to drugs, the lungs of her brother are affected.
A couple of days back, she emerged in Press Enclave Srinagar alleging that an Army Major is harassing her.
Negating her claims, police issued an elaborate statement about the road accident, stating that yesterday at around 20:15 hours, Police Station Sopore was informed that an accident took place at Model Town crossing Sopore while enroute from Seelu to Sopore town, two individuals namely Zakir Ahmed Mir son of Shabir Ahmed Mir of Maharajpura and Hijaj Mushtaq alias Saqib Naiku son of Mushtaq Ahmed Naikoo who were moving on a Scooty met with an accident near Baba Motors Model Town. Upon receiving this information, an FIR No 149/2020 US 279, 337 IPC was lodged at Police Station Sopore.
The injured were evacuated to SDH Sopore for treatment, where from one Zakir Ahmad was referred to Srinagar for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile, distress call was received by Police Station Sopore from Nighat Bashir of Seelu that her brother-in-law was attacked/hit intentionally at Model Town near Baba Motors.
To ascertain the facts, Police party under the supervision of SDPO Sopore consisting of SHO Police Station Sopore immediately rushed to SDH Sopore after completing basic medico- legal formalities, statement of other injured namely Saqib was recorded in presence of doctors and other medical staff.
Saqib revealed that “Enroute to Sopore from Seelu while reaching Model Town crossing, suddenly stray dogs chased us as we were riding a Scooty thus lost the balance and got injured. We were taken to hospital by pedestrians. Neither hit by any vehicle not by any person, this all happened due to sudden encounter with stray dogs.”
“Meanwhile, Nighat Bashir and her family including sister and parents reached SDH and started creating ruckus over the accident, blaming police and Army for the incident.”
“She picked up a fight with the family members of Zakir (brother-in-law of Nighat Bashir) over making of a live video wherein she was trying to exploit the accident of her brother-in-law by blaming security forces. She was filming inside the ambulance which was objected by Zakir’s family due to her blatant lies about the incident.”
“Fight between both families became grave and police and other civilians who were present in the hospital had to intervene. Then both Nighat Bashir and her sister lodged individual complaints each against the family members of Zakir for fight and threatening her life.”
“Nighat on social media blames that his brother-in-law was attacked by someone which is totally baseless.”
“Police negates all the accusations of Nighat Bashir henceforth and warn all those, who without verifying and confirming the authenticity of accusations leveled by any person, shares on social media.”
