Presence of sow and two cubs creates panic in Khrew village

PAMPORE — Villagers of Shar Shali Khrew area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district were in the grip of fear after spotting a sloth of wild bears in their village on Thursday.

After getting information from the villagers, a Wildlife Department team visited the village and started searching for these wild bears.

A villager, Waseem Ahmed said that he woke up after hearing strange sounds in front of their house when he and his family members were sleeping during pre-dawn hours of Thursday.

“A sow (she-bear) along with her two cubs was roaming in the village. Their presence created panic among the people. When some people chased them, they mounted on a walnut tree,” he said.

Efforts were on to trap them till the filing of this report. “We have made all arrangements to trap the sow and her two cubs and hopefully, we will get them,” said an official.
