Pulwama: A complete shutdown is being observed in the South Kashmir district of Pulwama over the irresponsible behaviour of District Development Commissioner (D.C) Pulwama towards the problems of the district brought to fore by the Coordination Committee Pulwama (for development attainment).
According to our correspondent Aashiq Mohideen, the Coordination Committee comprised of Youth Forum Pulwama, Traders Federation Pulwama, transporters and local heads met D.C Pulwama on Friday to get his attention towards the different developmental problems facing the district but the reaction was totally irresponsible. The members were not even given a proper chance to speak and were told that there were no funds available to the D.C Pulwama for development purposes.
Eventually, the Coordination Committee decided to go on a two-day strike to protest against the ill-treatment at the hands of Distt. Development Commissioner.
The shutdown call was quite a success as all the shops were closed. Transport was not plying on the roads except a few private vehicles.
The street vendors had no effect of the call as they were out for a good sale today due to heavy rush of pedestrain people shopping fruits to counter their thirst due to unavailability of transport facilities.
The local administration is still silent over the issue as no formal report was given to the Press.
The district will observe shutdown on Sunday i.e 30th January also as per the call of the Coordination Committee Pulwama.
